Pickens, South Carolina

South Carolina Pickens County Pickens Pickens is known as "The Gem of the Foothills." It is the county seat of Pickens County.

A few Europeans traders lived among the Cherokee in this area in the early 1800s. After the mid-1800s, more Scottish and Irish settlers moved into the area.

The name of the city and the county honored Revolutionary War hero Andrew Pickens.

Easley is the largest city near Pickens. Clemson is also nearby at about 20 miles to the southwest. Here is a map of the Clemson area.
