Abandoned House
Leonard Vaughan of Lexington

"Beautifully abandoned house being consumed by trees and vines in the small community of Ft. Motte. Just caught this out of the corner of my eye while driving to the Congaree Bluffs Heritage Preserve."
Fort Motte
Leonard Vaughan of Lexington

"This abandoned building once made up the heart of the town of Fort Motte. There are a few other abandoned buildings along the railroad tracks. The origins of the town go back to a military outpost during the Revolutionary War."
St. Matthews Presbyterian Church
Leonard Vaughan of Lexington

"The St. Matthews Presbyterian Church is located on the corner of Amaker and Dantzler Streets. The church's beautiful yet simple design was constructed in 1916. The church began several years earlier, in 1905, when members met at the local Masonic Hall."

Low Falls Landing
Leonard Vaughan of Lexington

"A beautiful evening at Low Falls Landing in lower Calhoun County. The landing is located at the upper end of Lake Marion along the Santee River. The Santee River begins just upstream at the confluence of the Congaree and Wateree Rivers. This encompasses the Cowasee Basin."
Wannamaker Seed Company
Leonard Vaughan of Lexington

"The Wannamaker Seed Company building is located beside the railroad tracks in St. Matthews. It is a third-generation family seed business. They grow and market a variety of specialty seeds such as edamame soy bean seed, cover crops, wildflower seed, and onion seed."
Lone Star
Ann L. Helms of Spartanburg

"The original town of Lone Star is just about gone. A few homes, a couple of brick buildings, and the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad freight station are about all that remain. Railroad tracks still go by, but trains pass through without stopping now. The old general store and post office have been moved to a BBQ restaurant in Santee."
