{ SC Photo of the Month — Campbell's Covered Bridge }

This month, in honor of the season, we celebrate Campbell's Covered Bridge – the last remaining covered bridge in South Carolina. It was built in 1909 and is located in Greenville County near the community of Gowensville. One of four covered bridges built in northeastern Greenville County in the early 20th century, this one was named for Lafayette Campbell, the owner of a nearby grist mill who allowed his land to be used for the bridge's construction.

Many thanks to photographer Charles Hardin for his help in documenting our state's beloved landmarks. If you have a photo you would like to contribute, please add it here. The South Carolina Picture Project is viewed by 3,000 people each day – or over 1,000,000 a year!
