SCIWAY – Research & Customer Service Position

• SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION (SEO) – 40%
  
  Help optimize SCIWAY so it continues to rank well in leading search engines. We will provide training. This work involves precision, patience, record-keeping, and research.
  
  
• CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR ADVERTISERS – 30%
  
  No cold calls or sales. Work with SCIWAY's advertisers to make sure they are happy with their ads. You must be able to add HTML code (we'll provide training) and write emails without making mistakes, and you must enjoy talking to people on the phone.
  
  
• LINK MAINTENANCE – 15%
  
  Use link checking software to identify broken links and then fix them. Requires a keen sleuthing ability! :)
  
  
• CONTRIBUTION COORDINATION – 10%
  
  Work with people who would like to contribute content to SCIWAY. This content is generally in the form of photographs, essays, polls or surveys, and timelines.
  
  
• SOCIAL MEDIA POSTING – 5%
  
  Create posts for SCIWAY's Facebook and Twitter accounts. Form partnerships with individual South Carolinians as well as SC organizations. Must be able to write well without making errors.

• Keep a lot of loose ends in your mind at once
• Make changes to the website without making mistakes
• Test your changes to make sure they work
• Communicate with advertisers and contributors in a professional and friendly manner
• Research new SEO techniques via blogs, forums, and newsletters
• Keep track of your progress and conduct experiments to see if your changes have been effective
• Write well and have strong phone skills
• Work well with a team
• Work independently while being able to accept and follow instructions as needed
