Mullins, South Carolina
South Carolina Marion County Mullins
The City of Mullins formed in 19th century as a farming community but it grew significantly when the Wilmington and Manchester Railroad laid tracks in 1854. Population and commerce increased even more with the introduction of tobacco in 1894. By the early 1900s, Mullins had developed the largest tobacco market in the state.
The Mullins train depot, originally built in 1901, today houses the SC Tobacco Museum. Mullins celebrates its heritage each September with the Golden Leaf Festival.
Mullins is located in Marion County and the City of Marion is the largest nearby city. Here is a map of the Marion area.
