James Butler Bonham, a hero of the Alamo, grew up and practiced law in South Carolina before moving to Texas. As the siege of the Alamo endured, he broke through enemy lines to deliver letters asking for assistance. Even though he had escaped the danger, he decided to return to the Alamo, assisting his second cousin, William Travis, with the defense of the makeshift fort.

Hi, Isabel. Thank you for your comment. In fact, we do have a page for Edward and George Nelson: http://www.sciway.net/sc-photos/saluda-county/south-carolinas-heroes-of-the-alamo.html/alamo. They were not mentioned on this page simply because the photo was of the statue of Bonham. However, we do agree that they are important figures in both South Carolina and Texas history.
