The calm waters of Pinnacle Lake draw the eye to the peaceful majesty of Table Rock Mountain in Pickens County. This area is part of Table Rock State Park, which spans 3,000 acres. This 36-acre lake is a popular place for fishing as well as canoes and kayaks. Visitors can even rent pedal boats and enjoy the scenic mountain beauty of Table Rock.

Pinnacle Lake is a great place to relax your legs after a full day of hiking to the summit of Table Rock. From the quiet lake, paddlers can view the impressive peak and reflect on the beauty and challenges of reaching the mountain top.

Reflections on Pinnacle Lake

Many thanks to Willie Harper of Mauldin, who took this picture in November of 2007. Willie writes, “While hiking in search of waterfalls to take photos of, I could not resist the beautiful reflection of the fall colors in the relatively calm lake at the foot of the mountain.”

Contributor Jonathan Kostyra shares, “Table Rock is one of my favorite places to hike in the Upstate. Additionally, there are many other activities to enjoy at Table Rock State Park including camping, hiking, kayaking, and bird watching.”

Photographer Eva Slagle of Chapin says, “Table Rock State Park is located in the Upstate of South Carolina. Its CCC history and natural beauty makes it such a special place. My family and I first visited Table Rock in 2013, and it is now one of our favorite relaxing vacation destinations. This picture was taken from their trail around the main lake at sunset. I was with my mom and my younger sister at the time enjoying the overall stillness and quietness of the park.”

I have camped there. I like the upper campground. Kayaked the lake. Great place to stay. And excellent central location for driving the SC mountains.
