Elloree, which derives its name from an Indian word that means “the home that I love,” boasts a revitalized downtown area and a friendly atmosphere. There is the Elloree Heritage Museum, which is not to be missed, as well as Amporns Thai Cuisine, a fine restaurant right in the main part of town.
Soon after becoming incorporated in 1886, Elloree became a railroad hub for farming commerce in Orangeburg County. The above photo is an old steam engine pulley for a local lumber company, a reminder of the community’s history in both the agricultural and transportation industries.
Elloree Photos Add Info and More Photos
The purpose of the South Carolina Picture Project is to celebrate the beauty of the Palmetto State and create a permanent digital repository for our cultural landmarks and natural landscapes. We invite you to add additional pictures (paintings, photos, etc) of Elloree Photos, and we also invite you to add info, history, stories, and travel tips. Together, we hope to build one of the best and most loved SC resources in the world!
