The boil kettles at COAST Brewing are powered by biodiesel from Southeast Biodiesel, whose North Charleston plant is only a few hundred yards away from the brewery.
As the first steps in the process of making beer require heat, large copper kettles are used. This part of brewing takes 14 hours and must be done all in one shot, with little room for rest. It is at this point that the recipe for the final product is determined.
