South Carolina  |  SC Picture Project  |  Anderson County Photos  |  Shady Grove Baptist Church

This historic Belton congregation was founded in 1833 in neighboring Anderson. (The City of Anderson was chartered that same year, but Belton was not founded until 1855, when it becames a railroad town.) Shady Grove Baptist Church is affiliated with the Saluda Baptist Association. Members interred in the adjacent churchyard include veterans of both the Revolutionary War and the Civil War.

I went to this church every Wednesday night for years. It’s a wonderful church. The preacher really does a great job.

To to findagrave for Shady Grove. Over 1000 people are buried there. You can come up with some history from that.

My complements to Crystal Rhodes on these interesting photographs. Excellent framing, clarity and use of light. Proof that tripods do help.
