  1. The per capita income data were obtained from the US Bureau of Economic Analysis's Web page entitled Regional Accounts Data, Local Personal Income. The data were downloaded in February 2001 as a self-extracting zipped file, CA1_3.exe. They had been updated on June 15, 2000.

  2. The SC rankings compared with other states were calculated from the BEA's State Personal Income data - scroll down for yearly data
