Ruff and Company has been operating a general mercantile store in Ridgeway since 1840. A new store stands next door along US Highway 21 and is run by the sixth generation of Ruffs.

A sign in this shop window advertises boiled or deep-fried peanuts and ice cold Coca-Cola. This window display filled with antique tools and sundries recalls a bygone era.

Laura’s Tea Room

Ridgeway is home to Laura’s Tea Room, a delightful stop on the town’s main street, Palmer.

Originally the town mercantile, this historic building has been completely renovated and utilizes the same cabinets, heart-pine floors, and library ladder used since its construction. The main level features a gift shop and small dining area, while the upper level offers a full tea service in a more formal yet relaxed setting.

The Thomas Company

The old Philco sign remains on the side of Ridgeway’s original mercantile building, The Thomas Company. The historic building has been completely renovated and now houses a tea room and gift shop.
