The modern-day Gibbs Building marks the approximate location where William Travis fell from a gun shot to the head as he was defending the Alamo. The original outer walls of the Alamo no longer exist and have been built over. As of November 2008, the Gibbs Building was being renovated to make way for Hotel Indigo.
