Flying Junk Car – Elloree, South Carolina

South Carolina  |  SC Picture Project  |  Orangeburg County Photos  |  Flying Junk Car

This photo of a classic car on posts creates a nice contrast of nature and rust, life and decay.

The photo was submitted by Leigh Joyner of Orangeburg. It was taken in December 2006. Leigh writes: “A junk car sits high in the air on sign posts at the crossroads of US 301 and US 176 in Orangeburg County, near the town of Elloree. Once an advertisement for a now-defunct auto repair shop, the car now serves as a landmark that offers direction and humor to travelers and locals.”

I just took a picture of this on the way back from Charleston. It was my favorite pic of the trip. I’ll have to post it. Love it!

That appears to be a 1953 Chevy Bel Air sedan
