Flying Junk Car – Elloree, South Carolina

South Carolina  |  SC Picture Project  |  Orangeburg County Photos  |  Flying Junk Car

This photo of a classic car on posts creates a nice contrast of nature and rust, life and decay.

This image is copyrighted. You may not use it without written consent.

The photo was submitted by Leigh Joyner of Orangeburg. It was taken in December 2006. Leigh writes: “A junk car sits high in the air on sign posts at the crossroads of US 301 and US 176 in Orangeburg County, near the town of Elloree. Once an advertisement for a now-defunct auto repair shop, the car now serves as a landmark that offers direction and humor to travelers and locals.”

Flying Junk Car – Add Info and More Photos

The purpose of the South Carolina Picture Project is to celebrate the beauty of the Palmetto State and create a permanent digital repository for our cultural landmarks and natural landscapes. We invite you to add additional pictures (paintings, photos, etc) of Flying Junk Car, and we also invite you to add info, history, stories, and travel tips. Together, we hope to build one of the best and most loved SC resources in the world!

That appears to be a 1953 Chevy Bel Air sedan
