South Carolina | SC Picture Project | Oconee County Photos | Lower Whitewater Falls
The Lower Whitewater Falls are part of the Whitewater River, which begins in North Carolina and descends approximately 1,500 feet in a distance of 3.5 miles! The falls drop a spectacular 200 feet down a rocky cliff within the Jocassee Gorges.

The two-mile trail which leads to Lower Whitewater Falls begins just north of Lake Jocassee. The hike is a beautiful one because it leads through an untouched forest of evergreens and provides a great view of the river.
Bob Spalding of Easley took this shot of the Lower Whitewater Falls in October 2008. Be sure to check out more of Bob’s photographs.
