Beautiful Lee Falls is located in Tamassee near Walhalla in Oconee County. The 75-foot waterfall has no official trail going to it, and the well-worn path made by hikers is said to be quite difficult. That said, the one-and-a-half hour hike is well worth the effort to see this lovely waterfall in person. It was even once voted Oconee County’s most scenic waterfall.
The waterfall’s secluded location and misty atmosphere creates a perfect habitat for fabulous flora and fauna. Hikers have reported seeing Oconee bells, bulblet ferns, mosses, unusual amphibians, and much more near Lee Falls.
These directions will help lead hikers to the spectacular falls.
Reflections on Lee Falls
Contributor Jeff Lee, who sent the above photo, shares: “I grew up in Oconee County and never knew of Lee Falls. I have learned that my family’s home place is nearby. These falls could have been named by or for my ancestors. We had hiked on a hot, humid day to find the falls the first time. After climbing the rocks at the base of the falls, getting in the water felt really good.”
