Chattooga Belle Farm is a 138-acre working farm in Long Creek, South Carolina, near Seneca and along the Chattooga River. Actor and comedian Groucho Marx was an owner of this orchard during the 1950s when it was known as Horse Shoe Lake Farm.
The Long Creek area was the highest-producing apple region east of the Mississippi River in the 1950s. Today, Chattooga Belle Farm is a U-Pick farm, growing apples, peaches, berries, and a host of other fruits. The farm is also a popular wedding and event site and boasts an 18-hole disc golf course.

Contributor Mark VanDyke, who took the photo above says, “I come back to this place time and time again whenever I can, and though I’ve said it before, thank you so much to the owners of this property for allowing foot traffic. The farm is a tremendous community resource and a true hidden jewel.”
