Hi Janet!

According to John Howell's memoirs - which you can find here: http://www.sciway.net/hist/swansea-sc-memories.html , he says it was on Scouter Creek in the Edmonds area of Lexington County. That is so interesting about finding the 2 grind wheels. You may be able to find some history about your family here: http://www.scgen.org/

Good luck and thank you for your comments!

Were is the mill located? I live in swansea and have been told that our property lies atop an "old grist mill" until now I have pronounced "grits mill"! How would I go about finding the history of our land? Some years ago my father uncovered 2 grind wheels and a massive stove he located several feet underground. I look forward to hearing back from you! Thanks Janet Siddons and family.
