Lake Murray was created in 1930 when the Saluda Dam was built. It was named in honor of chief engineer William Murray and is owned by SCE&G. The lake provides electricity to the majority of South Carolina’s Midlands region. The largest part of Lake Murray is in Lexington County, but portions of it also stretch into Saluda County, Newberry County, and Richland County.

The fireworks will be launched from Spence Islands. The point marked on the map is on or near the dam about 3 miles from Spence Islands. It is a viewing location only.
