Lynchburg Presbyterian Church – Lee County, South Carolina
South Carolina | SC Picture Project | Lee County Photos | Lynchburg Presbyterian Church
The Lynchburg Presbyterian Church, located in Lee County‘s South Lynchburg, was founded in 1855 by its 21 charter members, along with several slaves and freedmen. Upon its three acres is also a cemetery with graves dating back to the mid-nineteenth century.

Lynchburg Presbyterian is one of the last remaining buildings from the original town of Lynchburg, which became South Lynchburg after a railroad was built just north of the area in 1854. The community that sprang up around the railroad adopted the name Lynchburg, and the original Lynchburg became known as South Lynchburg instead. The church is listed in the National Historic Register.
