Loris Town Clock – Horry County, South Carolina
South Carolina | SC Picture Project | Horry County Photos | Loris Town Clock
During the late 1800s, a lumber company from North Carolina built railroad lines through forests in Horry County to easily transport timber across the South Carolina state line. A community grew up around a busy railroad depot, which in 1902 became the town of Loris.

Loris is a fast growing town whose close proximity to the Grand Strand, and small town charm make it an attractive place to raise a family. The popular Loris Bog-Off festival held every year in October is a celebration of this great town and tasty Carolina chicken bog. The festival features a parade, crafts, bands, and fireworks.
BJ Thurman of Conway captured this picture while she was traveling through the town in October 2009.
