Georgetown Wooden Boat Show – Georgetown, South Carolina
South Carolina | SC Picture Project | Georgetown County Photos | Georgetown Wooden Boat Show
The Georgetown Wooden Boat Show is held every year in the fall and features one of our country’s largest wooden boat exhibits. The show also features a wooden boat building competition, maritime crafts, food, and music. The event is held along the beautiful Georgetown waterfront and historic Front Street. All proceeds from the boat show are put towards the construction of the South Carolina Maritime Museum in Georgetown.
Photographer Sally Swineford says that “the crowd is gathering to watch the rowing race segment of the Wooden Boat Challenge, a boat building competition where teams of two build a boat in under four hours and then race their boats across the Sampit River to test for seaworthiness.”
