April’s Playhouse – Florence, South Carolina
South Carolina | SC Picture Project | Florence County Photos | April’s Playhouse
This picture shows April’s Playhouse in Florence. The long building behind the playhouse is the former Atlantic Coast Line Railroad depot, now part of the McLeod Regional Medical Center.
The sign in front of this structure reads, “This historic cupola was part of a nineteenth century home which served for many years as the medical office of the late Dr. Joseph Sylvester. Dr. and Mrs. Sylvester later preserved the cupola as April’s Playhouse for their daughter. The Sylvester family lovingly gave the structure to McLeod Regional Medical Center in 1997.”
SCIWAY sends a special thanks to photographer Ann Helms for contributing this photo and information to the South Carolina Picture Project.
