Lake Monticello, located in Fairfield County just 25 minutes north of Columbia, offers an easy getaway from the city. Teri Leigh Teed took this photo in October of 2009. She says, “October sunsets are dramatic pieces of art over Lake Monticello. Often overlooked by nearby Columbians, this clear and tranquil lake offers a peaceful respite and beautiful photo opportunities. The drive up Highway 215 is full of rolling hills and heavily wooded scenic views.”
