Edisto Beach – Edisto Beach, South Carolina

South Carolina  |  SC Picture Project  |  Colleton County Photos  |  Edisto Beach

Edisto Beach lies at the tip of Edisto Island, just over Scott Creek. An incorporated town, it is separate from Edisto Island and located in Colleton County instead of Charleston County. Located about 50 miles south of historic Charleston, it is one of few relatively undeveloped beaches in South Carolina.

Edisto is named for its first known inhabitants, the Edisto Indians. Today the coastal community features beach homes, vacation rentals, and a state park.

Edisto Beach State Park is located on the northernmost tip of the beach, just south of Botany Bay. The park was developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the mid 1930s and was one of the first state parks constructed in South Carolina.

Edisto Beach – Add Info and More Photos

The purpose of the South Carolina Picture Project is to celebrate the beauty of the Palmetto State and create a permanent digital repository for our cultural landmarks and natural landscapes. We invite you to add additional pictures (paintings, photos, etc) of Edisto Beach, and we also invite you to add info, history, stories, and travel tips. Together, we hope to build one of the best and most loved SC resources in the world!
