Jordan UMC Church – Jordan, South Carolina
South Carolina | SC Picture Project | Clarendon County Photos | Jordan UMC Church
Jordan United Methodist Church near Manning was established at least by 1878, when its congregation built a new church that attracted the former members of Gessamine Methodist Church. The remaining members of Gessamine Methodist formed Bethlehem Methodist, along with members of Zoar Methodist, using Gessamine Methodist’s vacated building.
Jordan Methodist’s current church was built in the twentieth century and lost its steeple during Hurricane Hugo in 1989, though it was replaced following the storm. The church received another steeple in June 13, 2014, designed to resemble the one lost in the hurricane.
