John C. Land, III Landing – Manning, South Carolina

South Carolina  |  SC Picture Project  |  Clarendon County Photos  |  John C. Land, III Landing

Fog blankets the waters of the pond behind the Lake Marion dam. Located near the south end of South Carolina Highway 260, a boat ramp allows access to the quiet waters that rest beyond the activity of the lake above it.

The boat landing is named for John C. Land, III, who served in the South Carolina Senate from 1976 until his retirement in 2012. Land represented the 36th District, which includes Clarendon, Darlington, Florence and Sumter counties. Prior to serving in the senate, Land was a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives from 1975 through 1976.

This boat landing is not to be confused with the John C. Land, III Boating and Sports Facility, a six-lane paved public ramp managed by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and also in Clarendon County.
