This tea harvester is specially designed for the Charleston Tea Plantation, which is our country’s only tea garden. To accommodate the harvesting of tea, the folks at the Charleston Tea Plantation have adapted a tobacco picker to their use. As this is a unique model, replacement parts are made in a machine shop on the grounds. The sign in the foreground indicates distances to tea-growing regions of the world. The next closest tea plantation is located in Argentina, more than 4,800 miles away.
