These brick and stucco townhomes, painted in a spectrum of pastels, are iconic of historic Charleston‘s beauty and charm.

When the United States was a young country and many communities were little more than settlements, Charleston was already a sophisticated, wealthy port city, with schools, libraries, churches, and lovely neighborhoods.
The gracious ambiance that is felt when strolling in old Charleston is created, in part, by the blending of architectural styles ranging from the clean symmetrical lines seen in this picture to the more ornate Greek Revival, Italianate, and Victorian homes found throughout the city.
