These brick and stucco townhomes, painted in a spectrum of pastels, are iconic of historic Charleston‘s beauty and charm.

When the United States was a young country and many communities were little more than settlements, Charleston was already a sophisticated, wealthy port city, with schools, libraries, churches, and lovely neighborhoods.

The gracious ambiance that is felt when strolling in old Charleston is created, in part, by the blending of architectural styles ranging from the clean symmetrical lines seen in this picture to the more ornate Greek Revival, Italianate, and Victorian homes found throughout the city.

Charleston Rooftops – Add Info and More Photos

The purpose of the South Carolina Picture Project is to celebrate the beauty of the Palmetto State and create a permanent digital repository for our cultural landmarks and natural landscapes. We invite you to add additional pictures (paintings, photos, etc) of Charleston Rooftops, and we also invite you to add info, history, stories, and travel tips. Together, we hope to build one of the best and most loved SC resources in the world!
