The Church of the Cross in Bluffton has been sitting atop May River Bluff for 150 years. The church was consecrated in July 1857. Spared by Federal troops, who burned most of Bluffton in 1863, it was damaged by a deadly hurricane in 1898. The repairs were completed in February 1900.
