Farmers Hall Restaurant – Pendleton, South Carolina

South Carolina  |  SC Picture Project  |  Anderson County Photos  |  Farmers Hall Restaurant

The Farmers Hall was built in 1826 and designed in classic Greek revival style. It is located on Exchange Street and is one of the centerpieces of downtown Pendleton in Anderson County. The building is the oldest farmers hall still in continuous use in the nation. Local farmers originally used the second floor of the building for meetings and events, and the first floor was used by the US Postal Service.

Today, the first floor is being used by a local restaurant called 1826 on the Green The restaurant uses only the freshest ingredients available, and uses food grown by local Pendleton farmers.

SCIWAY thanks Gary DuBose of Seneca, who submitted this picture of the historic Farmers Hall Society building.
