Like a balloon in Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade, a cloud in the shape of South Carolina hovers over the trees in Aiken.

“Dad! Come look at this!” called Jason Martin’s kids from the backyard one afternoon. His eyes followed their fingers pointing upward and there he saw this billowy cloud mass that looked, for all the world, like his home state rising in the sky above his house.

Grabbing his camera, Jason quickly snapped a few pictures before the heavenly Palmetto State could float away – or worse, vanish into thin air!
