Kingstree has a significant Jewish history and these artifacts were donated to the Williamsburgh Historical Society Museum in order to document and celebrate this. There are many other Jewish artifacts which aren't pictured as well.
The ram's horn (shown on the top shelf) is called a Shofar and is blown on the High Holidays of Yom Kippur and Rosh Hashanah, part of a ritual that goes back 5758 years.
The Menorah (shown on the bottom shelf in the right corner) is lit with candles on Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights, to celebrate the Israelites liberation from the Syrians. The holiday is a celebration of religious freedom and freedom from oppression in general. Like Christmas, it has a practical side as well, keeping people sane until the spring comes, and the cold leaves. A traditional Menorah has nine candles. There is one light for each of eight days of Hanukkah and one candle to light the others. Jewish people say a prayer each night of Hanukkah and give out small gifts and play games.
