Lake Murray, South Carolina – Summer Hues

This picture, entitled Summer Hues, shows the sun setting over Lake Murray, which is near Columbia. It was taken by Suzette Morganelli in July of 2003.

Suzette captured the image from the tip of Shull Island in Lexington County, just as the midsummer sun was beginning its evening decline. This photograph is unique because it was taken at a time when Lake Murray was at its lowest "draw down" (water level) in history, due to the reconstruction of the dam. The islands exposed in this print may never be seen again.
