Adams Mill Pond is named for one of the six mills created along Big Pine Tree Creek. Adams Mill, which operated between 1820 and 1880, was one of the few mills to survive severe drought conditions which plagued the latter part of the 19th century.
This sign once warned peddle-boaters not to explore any further. Despite the discontinued use of peddle boats on the pond, the sign remains nailed between two cypress trees at the trail head of Big Pine Tree Creek Canoe Trail.
