Finlay Park is named after Kirkman Finlay, former mayor of Columbia, who strived to revitalize the Vista, where the park is located. A statue of Finlay has been placed in the park, showing him sitting on a bench.
The 14-acre park opened in 1991 and features a scenic waterfall that streams into a lake. There are picnic tables, two playground areas, and a cafe which makes the park a favorite for families. It also is one of the largest handicapped accessible parks in the country. You can easily spend an entire day at Finlay Park and not be bored!
Wilson Jumper of West Columbia took this picture in July 2008.
