The Kershaw-Cornwallis House dominates the site of Historic Camden with its stately architecture. The original mansion was built in 1777 by Joseph Kershaw, Camden's founding father. It was burned to the ground during the Union Army's short occupation of Camden in 1865. The house we see today was constructed in 1976-1977 on the original foundations.
