This photo was taken by Kelly Brosky of Conway who writes: "I was down there one morning before work and just happened to catch the fog rising off the Waccamaw. I was entranced by the beautiful Spanish moss hanging from the dead tree, it looked positively primeval, and I just had to snap a shot!"
The Waccamaw River, which has its source in southeastern North Carolina, runs approximately 140 miles before joining the Atlantic Ocean in Winyah Bay, near Georgetown. Its parallel run from the coast has promoted commerce and trading in the area since the 1700s. The Waccamaw is navigable from Winyah Bay to Conway and its lower part is part of the Intracoastal Waterway.
