Surfside Beach, South Carolina – Solo Flight

A lone pelican flies toward the sun at Surfside Beach. This photo was taken by Tony Rowell of Lexington in February 2007.

Tony writes: "This photo was taken quite early on a winter morning when the light was just right. This pelican was taking an early morning flight when I was fortunate enough to catch him at it. I have always loved the color of our beaches and the lazy activity at sunrise and with this photo I hoped to share that beauty."
