This picture of the steeple of Saint Michael's Church in downtown Charleston was taken by Diane Yale-Peabody of Amherst, Ohio.
Diane describes her photo for us: "The steeple of Saint Michael's Episcopal Church in downtown historic Charleston is framed by the branches of a crepe myrtle tree in July 2005. This historic church's steeple was used for target practice by British troops attacking the city during the American Revolutionary War. When the British invaded, they melted the lead roof for bullets. Pews inside the church have been used by George Washington and Robert E. Lee."
