This picture of a floating flower bed on a boat was taken by Diane Yale-Peabody of Amherst, Ohio.
Diane writes: "Magnolia Gardens Plantation on the Ashley River is water-bound with swamps, ponds, and the river. Particular to this plantation are the number of decorative bridges, one of which can be seen at the left border of this photograph. Not content to plant the edges of the waterways, gardeners here also floated an old wooden pirogue in one of the ponds, then filled it with soil and planted it. The final touch is the statue of a young girl. The hot, overcast afternoon in July, 2005, created a silvery surface on all the ponds, making them look more like mirrors than water."
