The Jenkins Institute for Children has had two locations in the Charleston area throughout its history. It was originally located at 20 Franklin Street, which was the home of Jenkins Orphanage until a fire damaged the building.
The orphanage then moved to its current home in North Charleston, where the City of Charleston built an administrative building and four dorms on a 220-acre farm. The beautiful site along the Ashley River is where the Jenkins Institute is currently located.
