Long an important river crossing that provided access to the region, Galivants Ferry is named after Richard Gallevan. Gallevan was granted ferry rights in 1792 and provided crossing on the Little Pee Dee River.
The photo was taken by L. Woodrow Ross of Travelers Rest in October 2006.
Ross writes, "When travelling to the beach from upstate South Carolina, we always pause at Gallivants Ferry to appreciate the beauty and history of this location. It has become a tradition for us."
