The sun's warm glow illuminates a treasured part of the Charleston skyline - the bridges that span the Cooper River. Here you can see the Grace bridge (circa 1929), the Pearman Bridge (circa 1966) and the brand new cable-stayed Ravenel Bridge, which opened in 2005.

The Grace and Pearman bridges were deemed outdated and structurally obsolete over time, and the Ravenel bridge was built to replace them. This picture captures a brief period in time when all three bridges were standing together. Today, the Ravenel bridge is the only one spanning the Cooper River.
