The rankings for the "Income + Percent White" map on the right (see below) were created by averaging county income rankings and percent white rankings. We know that averaging rankings is not technically correct and that there are more sophisticated ways of analyzing these sorts of data. However, in this case the simple approach we've used produces the same results, and it is much easier for most people to understand.
