Travelers Rest Hotels: A Local's Guide
Travelers Rest is located in Greenville County on US 25, north of the City of Greenville.In the early 1800s, it earned its name as a stopping place for travelers in the foothills of the mountains. Lodging at the hospitable inn there included shelter for horses and livestock, distinguishing it as a delux stopover in its time.
When the town was incorporated in 1891 it encompassed two train depots, one for the Carolina Knoxville Line and one for the Western Railway Company.
