Pawleys Island Hotels: A Local's Guide
Pawleys Island is located just 25 miles south of Myrtle Beach along the southernmost stretch of South Carolina's "Grand Strand." Although the island claims to be "the oldest seaside resort in America," there certainly aren't any traces of resort life. Pawleys Island is home to one of the most undeveloped public beaches in the state and is known for its "arrogantly shabby" style. Life on the island is slow and relaxed, and locals work hard to keep it that way.The island is strictly residential, so you won't find any hotels here — just vacation rentals and a few bed and breakfast inns. The majority of the area's accommodations are located on the mainland, which is also considered Pawleys Island.
The mainland is connected to the island by the North Causeway and the South Causeway, both of which connect to US 17. Here you'll find championship golf courses, great restaurants, and unique shopping.
