Mount Pleasant Hotels: A Local's Guide
Mount Pleasant is a major town in its own right, and it has many landmarks to brag about, including the Cooper River Bridge, Patriots Point and the USS Yorktown, Boone Hall, and Shem Creek.Still, its major attraction may well be the fact that it's just a hop, skip, and jump from Historic Charleston. Many people who come to Charleston choose to stay in Mount Pleasant because it offers cheaper rates and an extremely easy commute. (The other, equally nice option for cheap hotels and an easy commute is to book a hotel in West Ashley.)
Mount Pleasant is located northeast of downtown Charleston, just across the Cooper River. The Cooper River Bridge, which was built about 10 years ago, is fantastic – an absolute icon in terms of both design and usability. Its piece de resistance is a 10-foot wide bicycle and walking path that gets heavy traffic from locals and visitors alike.
