Hampton Hotels: A Local's Guide
Hampton is located in the heart of South Carolina's Lowcountry near the intersection of US 278 and US 601. It's about 30 miles west of Walterboro and 50 miles northwest of Beaufort. Hampton is famous for hosting the annual Hampton County Watermelon Festival, the oldest continuing festival in the state. The 9-day celebration includes a parade, live music, and a watermelon eating contest!This small town is home to a number of historically significant sites and buildings, including the Hampton County Courthouse and the Bank of Hampton. The nearby Hampton Museum and Visitors' Center also offers special tours and exhibits to celebrate the town's history.
Nature lovers will enjoy being near beautiful Lake Warren State Park, which boasts picnic areas, nature trails, and a 200-acre lake perfect for boating and fishing.
