South Carolina Aiken County Vaucluse

Vaucluse is located in the northeastern part of Aiken County; an area that developed in the 1800s as small mill towns. The preserved mill village at Vaucluse is on the National Register of Historic Places. The oldest building still standing has a foundation dating from 1832. The mill at Vaucluse was designed by Amos Lockwood who went on to design 50 more textile manufacturing facilities in South Carolina.
